BSI chooses Herbert Retail to demonstrate best in class system
July 2009 – Herbert Retail, leading supplier of weighing, packaging and labelling solutions to grocery and other retailers, was chosen by the Bristish Standards Institute to demonstrate the best in class ISO22000 system to the Director General of the Dept. of Science and Technical Standards from the CNCA in China.
Mr Xu Zengde of the Chinese National Certification and Accreditation body visited the BSI for a 3 month period to learn more and understand the processes of BSI’s systems and product approvals. When Mr Xu requested he see best practice regarding Food Safety Management Systems, BSI Global Scheme Manager David Highton contact Herbert Retail.
Herbert Retail were one of the first equipment manufacturers in the UK to become certified to ISO22000, fully embracing all the requirements of this demanding standard.
On his visit Mr Xu was able to learn more about the exacting standards applied by Herbert Retail in identifying new product requirements, working with our customers and suppliers to ensure customer specific safety and hygiene requirements are captured, working through full risk assessments and detailing the requirements in procedures and work instructions, identifying and making provision for the appropriate hygiene and protective equipment and the training of our engineers to meet the stringent ongoing requirements.
